    Description

    The item for sale is a pair of cut gemstones made from a form of light green quartz called prasiolite.  This  type of quartz is scarce in nature but is now produced by treating purple amethyst with heat. The shape of the stones is generally oval with most of the surfaces have more or less square facets often called checkerboard.  The lot includes  6 x 9 mm stone weighing 1.7 cts and a  9 x 12 mm stone weighing 3.5 cts.  The total weight is 5.2 cts.  The gems are from jeweler's stock.  They have not been used in jewelry.  They are in the same condition as when they were cut and polished.
